Art songs are a type of classical vocal music that is usually accompanied by a piano. They are typically shorter than other types of classical vocal pieces, such as oratorios and operas.

Franz Schubert was an Austrian composer who lived in the early 19th century. He is best known for his lieder, or German art songs. Many of his lieder were based on the poetry of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Friedrich Schiller, and other well-known poets of the time.

Henry Purcell was an English composer who lived in the late 17th century. He is best known for his vocal music, including his many anthems and operas.

Johannes Brahms was a German composer who lived in the 19th century. He is best known for his symphonies, concertos, and chamber music. He also wrote a number of songs, both solo and for chorus.

These three composers were some of the most important and influential in the history of western art music. Their contributions to the genre are still felt today. If you’re a fan of classical music, or just interested in learning more about it, be sure to check out their work.
