Agencies That Are Responsible For Enforcing Drug Laws In Nigeria 

  1. Nigerian Customs
  2. The Nigeria Police Force (NPF)
  3. National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA)
  4. National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control  (NAFDAC)

 

Functions of The Nigerian Customs

  • They monitor the land boundaries of Nigeria
  • They check goods that are taken into the country
  • They confiscate illegal goods or contraband.
  • They arrest smugglers

 

Functions Of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA )

1 . The first function of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency is to use all the resources at its disposal for the absolute extirpation of all illegal trafficking of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. In other words, the reduction of illegal drugs and other substances on demand.

  1. They usually have the mandate agreement to recover all ill-gotten wealth, acquired from proceeds of illegal drug trading.

  2. The third function is to defend, strengthen, and maintain the image of Nigeria and Nigerian people both at home and abroad.

  3. The last and the main function of NDLEA is to make the arrests where necessary and convey such drug dealer over to the police

 

Functions of National Agency For Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) 

  1. They monitor the administration of drugs in Nigeria
  2. They monitor and control the sales of drugs in Nigeria
  3. They get rid of fake or expired drugs off Nigeria markets
  4. They monitor the sales and circulation of packaged foods, drugs or drugs
  5. They register and control the activities of pharmacists in the production of new drugs
  6. They register and control the production of pure water in Nigeria

 

Functions of The Nigeria Police 

  1. They arrest drug traffickers
  2. They arrest suspected smugglers
  3. They operate on most Nigerian roods and they have the right to check every load of the citizens
