Labour and Trade Union 

What is labour? 

Labour is man’s mental, social and physical energy that is directed towards the creation of goods and services that will satisfy human wants, needs and desire.

 

What is trade? 

Trade is the exchange of goods and services for a consideration that is known as money. Everybody in the business world is a sort of trader somehow because we strive to provide or satisfy customer needs and wants for a consideration or money or profit.

 

What are labour and trade unions? 

Labour and trade unions consists of members that are professionals that belong to the same job group or classification that are coming together to protect the interests of their professional members. The names of these labour and Trade unions are written in such a way that someone can easily deduce what type of vacations that they do.

Labour and Trade Union

Labour: Labour means the effort people put into making things or providing services to meet the needs and desires of others.

Trade: Trade is when people give things or do things in exchange for money. It’s like buying and selling.

Labour and Trade Unions: These are groups of professionals who do similar jobs. They join together to protect and support each other. The names of these groups often show what kind of work they do.

For example, the “Nigerian Union of Teachers” is a group of teachers who work together to help and protect each other in their teaching jobs. They might organize to ask for better pay, work conditions, or benefits.

It’s a bit like when you and your friends come together to support each other in games or activities. These unions are like groups of friends who have the same jobs and help each other with their jobs.

  3. Nigerian Medical Association: Doctors and healthcare workers who join forces to improve healthcare services.
  4. National Union of Road Transport Workers: They help make sure transportation in Nigeria is safe and fair.
  5. Nigerian Bar Association: Lawyers who work to improve the legal system and protect the rights of citizens.
  6. Nigerian Labour Congress: This union fights for the rights of all workers in Nigeria.
  7. Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers: They ensure that the oil and gas industry is safe and fair for its workers.
  8. Academic Staff Union of Universities: Professors and teachers who come together to improve higher education in Nigeria.
  9. Nigeria Union of Electricity Employees: Workers in the electricity sector who ensure Nigerians have access to electricity.
  10. Bankers Union of Nigeria: Bank employees who join forces to improve banking services and conditions.

Please note that each item of Vocation or job has a professional body or union that guides and directs the affairs of members.

 

Functions Of Labour and Trade Unions 

1. Supervise the modulus operandi of each member

2. Protect the interest of members

3. Sanction members that is involved in unprofessional conducts

4. Bargain for higher wages.

5. Demand for better working conditions for members

6. Organize strike or protest to drive home their demands

The class teacher allows the pupils to give their own examples and he corrects them when the needs arise

 

 

Conclusion

The class teacher wraps up or conclude the lesson by giving out short note to summarize the topic that he or she has just taught.

The class teacher also goes round to make sure that the notes are well copied or well written by the pupils.

He or she does the necessary corrections when and where  the needs arise.
