What is religion ?
Religion is the mode of worship. It is the way that we worship ALMIGHTY GOD. There are different names of Almighty God in different religion. Some called him Allah, God Almighty, Elédùmarè, etc.
In Nigeria the three major religions in Nigeria are
Christianity
Islam
And Traditional religion
Religious Practices In Nigeria
1. Christianity : The Christian worship in the church. Their major day of worship is Sunday although they also pray and worship during the week. Their main book of worship is The Holy Bible. Their major festivals are Christmas, Easter etc
2. Islam : The moslems worship in the mosque. Their major days of worship is Friday although there also are worship and prayer on other days of the week. Their major book of worship is the Holy Quran. Their major festivals are id-ul-Adha or Festival of Sacrifice.
Maulid Al-Nabi or birthday of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)
Ramadan.
3. Traditional Religion : The traditional worshippers in Nigeria worship their deities in their shrines. Most of their prayers are done from memory through recitation of verses that they have learned by heart. They have special festival and masquerade displays
