Content :  

Highway Codes 

Highway Codes are signs, symbols or marks that are placed on the major highways like like express motor roads to communicate with all road users.

 

These codes may be in form of marks, signs, posters, and any other bill boards that are visible and legible for all road users to read.

 

 

Examples of Highway codes are 

  1. Traffic lights
  2. Zebra crossing
  3. No U-turn sign
  4. One way ahead
  5. Men at work
  6. The Stop ahead sign
  7. The give way or yield sign
  8. Narrow bridge ahead
  9. Rough road sign
  10. Dangerous dip sign
  11. Unguarded level crossing sign
  12. School children crossing

 

 

Note that most high way codes have some major categories which are

  1. Regulatory codes or signs
  2. Warning signs or symbols
  3. Guide signs warning
  4. Mandatory signs.
  5. Cautionary signs.

Step 2 : The class teacher introduces the new topic

Step 3 : The class teacher allows the pupils to give their own contributions and gives room for pupils” participation

 

Class Teacher And Pupils Activities. Interaction or  Participation 

This involves class teacher  and pupils interaction , conversation , imitation or modeling through discussion , play method or just by recitation or asking and answering questions that are related to the topic that has just been taught

  • The class teacher will show the pupils examples of high way codes symbols
  • Pupils are to draw and paint some popular high way sings like C-caution
  • The class teacher makes the pupils to mention examples of other highway codes that they know
