The Lander Brothers” The Lander Brothers refers to Richard Lander, born in 1804, and his brother John Lander, born in 1807. They were among the European explorers who visited West Africa to explore the hinterlands. Tragically, John Lander was attacked and killed by local tribesmen along the River Niger on the 6th of February 1834.
