Content :

What is an accident? 

An accident is a sudden, shocking, quick bad event or happening that leaves people that are involved with sorrow, pain or injuries. Most accidents are always unfortunate incident that happen unexpectedly and unintentionally, typically resulting in damage, injury, permanent disability or death

What are the examples of accidents? 

Examples of accidents are

  • Fall
  • Cut
  • Burn
  • Motor vehicle accident
  • Collapse building
  • Electric shock
  • Choking

 

What are injuries? 

Injuries are open wounds, fractures, bruises or burns that are suffered by people because they are victims of accidents. Injuries cause damage to your body. It is a general term that refers to harm caused by accidents, falls, hits, weapons, and more

These are the examples of injuries 

  • Sport injuries
  • abrasions,
  • lacerations,
  • hematomas,
  • broken bones,
  • joint dislocations,
  • sprains,
  • strains, and
  • burns.

 

Safety measures that must be taken to prevent at home or in school to prevent accident

  1. Do not play with shart objects
  2. Do not touch the holes of the electric sockets
  3. Mop the floor dry always
  4. Do not run up and down within the school compound
  5. Do not jump on the stair case
  6. Do not put sharp objects in your mouth
  7. Do not play with fire
  8. Do not play with the pressing iron
  9. Do not play the gas cooker
  10. Do not drink and drive
  11. Your safety is your personal responsibility.
  12. Always follow the correct procedures.
  13. Never take shortcuts.
  14. Take responsibility and clean up if you made a mess.
  15. Clean and organize your workspace.
  16. Ensure a clear and easy route to emergency exits and equipment.
  17. Be alert and awake on the job

 

 

What are sport injuries? 

Sport injuries are wounds, cut or fractures that are obtained by athletes during sporting activities.

Examples sport injuries are

  • Sprains and strains.
  • Knee injuries.
  • Swollen muscles.
  • Achilles tendon injuries.
  • Pain along the shin bone.
  • Rotator cuff injuries.
  • Fractures (broken bones)
  • Joint Dislocations.
  • Sprained ankle
  • Tennis Elbow
  • Muscle pull
  • Groin Strain

 

What are domestic accidents? 

Domestic accidents are accidents that happened mostly at home. These accident may take place in the living room, parlour, kitchen, bedroom or toilet. Examples of domestic accidents are cuts, burns, or falls

 

What are road accidents? 

Road accidents are accidents that happen on the road eg collision of two vehicles

The class teacher allows the pupils to give their own examples and he corrects them when the needs arise
