What is a factor?

A factor is a figure that will divide any given number perfectly without a remainder.

Note : One is a universal factor because it will divide any given number without any remainder.

Example 1

Write out factor of 1.

The factor of 1 will be

1 divided by 1 = 1

The answer is 1 because 1 divide the given number perfectly without a remainder

Example 2

Write out one factor of 2 that will be

2 divided by 1= 2.

2 divided by 2= 1

The factors of 2,

are 1 and 2 because they divide the given number perfectly without a remainder. Our question is to write one factor so answer can be 1 or 2 any of them is correct.

Example 3

Write out one factor of 6

This will be

6 divided by 1= 6

6 divided by 2= 3

6 divided by 3 = 2

6 divided by 4 = 1 R 2

6 divided by 5 = 1 R. 1

6 divided by 6 = 1

The factors of 6 are

1,2,3 and 6 and we are to pick only one for our answer so I will pick 3.

Why 4 and 5 are not picked as factors of 6 is because they have a remainder when they are divided by 6.

Example 4

Write one factor of 10

This will be

10 divided by 1 = 10

10 divided by 2 = 5

10 divided by 3 = 3 R 1

10 divided by 4 = 2 R 2

10 divided by 5 = 2

10 divided by 6 =1 R 4

10 divided by 7 = 1 R 3

10 divided by 8 = 2 R 2

10 divided by 9 = 1 R 1

10 divided by 10 = 1

The factors of ten are

1, 2, 5 and 10

Because the instruction is to write only one factor of 10

And the four numbers are factors of ten and we only need one of it, when we write any of those numbers our answer will be correct. So I chose number 5

Note : all the division work we did that has R are not picked because they are not the factor of that given number.
