What is climate?

Climate is the weather condition of a particular place for a very long period of time.

What are the factors that determine climate?

  1. Temperature : This is the degree of hotness or coldness of a body or place. How cold or hot of a place for a very long period of time shapes how the climate will take form. Temperature also affects how water is loss from the soil due to intense heat. The process whereby water is loss from the surface of the earth is known as evaporation
  2. Rainfall : The is the sum total of water droplets from the sky. The amount of rainfall in a particular place factor the climate of that area. As places with much rainfall are likely to have thick rainforest vegetation
  3. Sunshine : Places with intense harsh sunlight are likely to have hot climate or hot longer weather conditions. Sunlight is the light of the earth during the day. It provides earth with heat and solar energy
  4. Wind : Wind is air in motion. Wind moves and blows in different directions. The north east trade wind brings dryness, dust and harmattan. The south west trade wind brings rainfall. This is one of the factors that determines the climate of a place
  5. Humidity : Humidity is the amount of atmospheric water. It is the amount of water vapour in the atmosphere. It measure the wetness or dryness of the atmosphere. It differs from one place to another
