Lesson Content

1. Meaning of Church

A church is defined in two ways:

  1. The Church as a Building – A physical place where Christians gather to worship God.
  2. The Church as a Body of Believers – A group of people who believe in Jesus Christ, follow His teachings, and worship together.

The Bible describes the church as the assembly of believers who worship and serve God together (Matthew 18:20). When we join a congregation, we experience spiritual growth, learn from others, and support one another.

2. Love and Relationship in the Church

Love is the foundation of good relationships in the church. According to Romans 12:9-21, Christians are expected to:

  • Love one another sincerely.
  • Live in peace and harmony.
  • Be kind and helpful to others.
  • Avoid seeking revenge.
  • Encourage and support those in need.

1 Corinthians 13:4-7 describes love as patient, kind, and not easily angered. As Christian students, we must show genuine love to everyone, including non-Christians.

3. Ways to Show Love in the Church

Christians demonstrate love in the church through the following ways:

  1. Praying for One Another – Christians should intercede for one another in prayer.
  2. Helping One Another – Offering support and assistance to those in need.
  3. Loving One Another – Showing care and kindness to fellow believers.
  4. Accommodating One Another – Accepting people regardless of their background.
  5. Forgiving and Not Revenging – Letting go of past hurts and offenses.
  6. Obeying Instructions from Church Leaders – Submitting to church authority and teachings.

When we practice these, we build strong and loving relationships in the church.

4. Roles of Individual Members of the Church

Each member of the church has an important role to play:

  1. Pastors – Lead the church, preach, and provide spiritual guidance.
  2. Choir Members – Inspire the congregation through music and worship.
  3. Ushers – Welcome members, assist in seating, and maintain order.
  4. Children Teachers – Teach and take care of children during church services.
  5. Evangelists – Spread the gospel and help in the growth of the church.

All members should work together to ensure a peaceful and loving church environment.
