Lesson Content
1. Meaning of Miracles
A miracle is a supernatural event that cannot be explained by natural or scientific laws. It is an extraordinary act performed by God to show His power, love, and mercy.
In the Bible, Jesus performed many miracles to:
- Prove that He is the Son of God.
- Demonstrate His love and compassion for people.
- Strengthen people’s faith in God.
2. Nature of Jesus’ Miracles
The miracles of Jesus had the following characteristics:
- They were supernatural – Jesus’ miracles were beyond human ability (e.g., raising the dead).
- They were instant – They happened immediately (e.g., healing the blind Bartimaeus).
- They were complete – Jesus’ miracles fully restored people (e.g., the ten lepers were cleansed).
- They were done out of love – Jesus performed miracles to help and bless people, not to show off His power.
- They strengthened faith – Many people believed in Jesus after witnessing His miracles.
3. Types of Jesus’ Miracles and Biblical Examples
Jesus performed different types of miracles, which can be grouped into four categories:
A. Miracles of Healing
Jesus healed people from different diseases and sicknesses.
Examples:
- Healing the blind Bartimaeus (Mark 10:46-52)
- Healing the ten lepers (Luke 17:11-19)
- Healing the paralytic man (Mark 2:1-12)
B. Miracles of Deliverance (Casting Out Demons)
Jesus freed people from demonic possession and evil spirits.
Examples:
- Delivering the man with an unclean spirit in the synagogue (Mark 1:23-28)
- Delivering the demon-possessed man at Gadara (Mark 5:1-20)
C. Miracles of Provision
Jesus provided for people in miraculous ways.
Examples:
- Turning water into wine at the wedding in Cana (John 2:1-11)
- Feeding the five thousand with five loaves and two fish (Matthew 14:13-21)
D. Miracles of Power Over Nature
Jesus showed His authority over nature.
Examples:

- Walking on water (Matthew 14:22-33)
