Sub-Topic: 1. GUIDANCE:(A) GOD GUIDED HIS PEOPLE- THE ISRAELITES. EXODUS 13: 17-22; JOSHUA 8: 1-22

As soon as the Israelites left Egypt, Pharaoh regretted to have released them, which led to his pursuit of the children of Israel with his entire host. The Lord told Moses to direct the Israelites to turn from Etham on the edge of the desert and camp at Piha-hiroth and Baal-zephon at the bank of the Red sea, which would make Pharaoh happy to pursue more, thinking they were entrapped.

God kept a clear demarcation of space between the Israelites and Pharaoh’s host by the pillar of cloud by day and the pillar of fire by night. The Israelites moved through the red sea on dry ground while the host of Pharaoh was trapped in the sea as Moses stretched his rod over the Red Sea the second time.

God used the pillar of cloud, Angel, cloud of darkness and clogged the wheels of Pharaoh’s chariots as protective devices for the Israelites against Pharaoh and his entire host.

EVALUATION

  • Where was Moses instructed to camp the Israelites beside the Red sea?

As Christians, we are to live as Christ lived, render faithful and loyal service to God as well as endure the suffering that we might encounter.

Ways by which Christians are guided and led. Through:

  • God’s word – Holy Bible
  • Visions
  • Pastors or Ministers (Prophets)
  • Godly Parents
  • Misfortune or challenges
  • Profession
  • Dreams    and so on.

The Bible informs us that “In many and various ways, God spoke of old to our fathers by the prophets”.

God commanded us“. come unto me, all who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest;

Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light”.

Prayer cannot be over emphasised as an instrument that helps human link up with the divine – God. Prayer acts as a communicating tool through which we channel all our requests to God and in expectant through faith that the answers will be sent without delay and yet accurate.
