One day, his teacher announced that an important examination was coming up. The top three students would receive scholarships to study in a better school.
Jide studied day and night, determined to pass. On the day of the exam, he sat near a rich boy named Femi, who had written answers on a small piece of paper hidden in his pocket. Femi whispered to Jide, “Take this, we can pass together.”
Jide shook his head. “I would rather fail than cheat,” he whispered back.
The teacher noticed Femi’s suspicious behavior and searched him. The cheat sheet was discovered, and Femi was disqualified. Meanwhile, Jide answered the questions honestly and performed excellently.
A week later, the results were announced. Jide was among the top three students and won a full scholarship. When the principal heard of Jide’s honesty, he was given additional rewards, including free books and a school uniform.
