  • Marble.

There are many types of stones, and they can be classified in various ways. Here are a few ways that stones can be categorized:

  1. By mineral composition: Stones can be made up of different minerals, such as quartz, feldspar, mica, and calcite. Each type of mineral has its own unique physical and chemical properties, which can help to identify the stone.
  2. By texture: The texture of a stone refers to the way it feels when touched and can be smooth, rough, or somewhere in between. The texture of a stone can also give clues about its origin and formation.
  3. By color: Stones can be a variety of colors, from black to white to red to green. The color of a stone can be caused by the minerals it is made of, as well as other factors such as impurities or inclusions.
  4. By hardness: The hardness of a stone refers to its resistance to scratching or breaking. The hardness of a stone can be determined using the Mohs scale, which ranges from 1 (softest) to 10 (hardest).
  5. By use: Stones can also be classified based on their common uses, such as building materials, decorative stones, gemstones, or industrial minerals.

Some examples of common types of stones include granite, marble, limestone, sandstone, and shale.

Where can we get stones

1. You can find stones just about anywhere – on the ground, in the water, or even in the air!

2. The best way to find stones is to look in places where they are naturally occurring. This could be a riverbed, the shore of a lake or ocean, or even your own backyard.

3. You can also look for stones that have been used by humans in the past. These could be old buildings or monuments, walls, or even just rocks that have been carved into shapes.

4. If you’re looking for a particular type of stone, you can always check with a local rock shop or quarry. They will likely have a wide selection of different types of stones that you can choose from.

5. Finally, if you’re feeling really adventurous, you can always go out and try to find your own stones! This could involve hiking, climbing, or even just exploring your local area.

Types of precious stones

1. Igneous
Igneous rocks are those that have been formed by the cooling and solidification of molten lava or magma. The word “igneous” comes from the Latin word for fire, and these rocks are often characterized by their fiery origins. Igneous rocks are the most common type of rock on Earth, and they can be found in a variety of colors, including black, brown, red, and white.

2. Sedimentary
Sedimentary rocks are those that have been formed by the deposition of sediment, or small particles of rock and other materials, over time. The word “sedimentary” comes from the Latin word for bed, as these rocks are often found in layers. Sedimentary rocks make up a large portion of the Earth’s crust, and they can be found in a variety of colors, including black, brown, red, and white.

3. Metamorphic
Metamorphic rocks are those that have been changed by heat or pressure over time. The word “metamorphic” comes from the Greek word for change, and these rocks are often characterized by their changed appearance. Metamorphic rocks make up a small portion of the Earth’s crust, and they can be found in a variety of colors, including black, brown, red, and white.

4. Soil
Soil is not technically a type of rock, but it is a material that is composed of a variety of rock types (including igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic). Soil is necessary for plant growth, and it can be found in a variety of colors, including black, brown, red, and white.

5. Coal
Coal is not technically a type of rock either , but it is a material that is composed mostly of carbon-rich sedimentary rock . Coal is used as a fuel source , and it can be found in a variety of colors , including black , brown , red , and white .

Presentation

The topic is presented step by step

Step 1:

The class teacher revises the previous topic with the pupils which was SAFETY

Step 2.

He introduces the new topic.

Step 3:

The class teacher allows the pupils to give their own examples and he corrects them when the needs arise.

Learning Activities

  • Let the pupils touch and identify types of stones
  • Let them mention the names of any type of stone that they can recollect

Conclusion

The class teacher wraps up or concludes the lesson by giving out short notes to summarize the topic that he or she has just taught.

The class teacher also goes round to make sure that the notes are well copied or well written by the pupils.

He or she does the necessary corrections when and where the needs arise.
