ROLE PLAYED BY FAMILIES AND OTHERS IN LIVES OF NEWLY WEDDED COUPLES
1. They give advice to both partners.
2. Both parents advise the newly wedded couples on how to live a peaceful married life
3. They plan the marriage ceremony
4. Some mother – in – laws are very difficult and uncooperative
5. Some family members give out gifts like
6. Advise the new bride on Cleanliness, neatness and on how to take care of herself
7. Fathers teach the new bridegroom on how to manage marriage and woman most especially endurance ( suuru lafi ńṣe ọkọ obìnrin)
8. Mother in laws come around to take care of the newly born babies when the needs arise. This is called OMUGO in the eastern part of Nigeria
9. They pray for the newly married couples
