Then he took a big stick in his hand and ran after the goats. The goats saw Joseph coming and ran away from him. They ran through the corn-field but did not jump over the broken fence. Joseph ran after them shouting and hitting them with his stick. He ran and ran.

When he could not run any more, he climbed over the fence again, and sat down on the grass. ‘What shall I do?, asked Joseph.the goats arepulling down all my father’s corn and eating it.

After thinking for a long time, he said to himself, I know I shall do. I can’t drive out the goats from the farm all alone, so I shall find another boy to help me’. Then he jumped up from the grass and ran along the bush path to the road.

On the raod he met his friend, Peter. ‘Why are you running?’ asked Peter. I am running because three goats are eating my father’s corn, Joseph replied. ‘They have broken down the fence and I can’t drive them out. Please Peter, come and help me, Peter found a good stick and ran with Joseph along the bush path towards Mr. Basseys farm.

When they got to the broken fence they saw the goats eating the corn. ‘We shall run after them with our sticks, said Peter. So the boys climbed over the fence and ran after the goats. They shouted at them and hit them with their sticks.
