Content :

What is drug ?

Drug is synonymous with medicine which may be in form of syrup ,tablets or capsules . Drugs are taken into the body system by swallowing ,,chewing ,or  by infusion    .

Dugs are taken into our body to cure illness or diseases . They are also needed to maintain and sustain good health .

Some drugs are naturally occurring in nature are they are ready to be used in this state .Examples of such drugs are alum , lime , kola , bitter kola , bitter leaves etc. while some drugs are the results of chemical reactions with each others . These types of drugs are called synthetic drugs. Examples of such drugs are paracetamol , coughta etc

What is drug abuse? 

Drug abuse is the taking of drugs without prescription of the doctor. It involves a process of self medication in which individuals use drugs based on guess or addiction. Drug abuse is a very deadly addition that may lead to organ damage, mental illness or death.

 

Samples of drugs that are commonly or usually abuse are 

  • Cocaine
  • Heroine
  • Indian hemp
  • Valium
  • Antibiotics
  • Chloroquine
  • Panadol
  • Daga
  • Codine
  • Asprine etc

What are the resultant effects of taking substances without doctor’s prescription

  • Mental disorder
  • Organ damage
  • Difficulty in breathing
  • Cancer
  • Yellow fever or hale fever
  • Shortage of blood
  • Loss of interest in eating
  • Loss of weight
  • Stroke
  • sleeplessness
  • Poor mind, body or hand coordination
  • Death
