Tie and Dye is the name that is used to refer to the technique that is used to refer to the method that is involved when a piece of cloth material is tied and dipped in colour in order to form beautiful pattern on the piece of cloth.

The dyeing process before proceeding to mix the components together, it is
important to bear in mind that all the main components (dye, hydrogen
sulphate and caustic soda) are dangerous and not fit for human consumption.
Again, dye spillage must be thoroughly washed off with water. Also, all
utensils used must be properly and thoroughly washed.

Steps that are Involved in Tie and Dye

  • Measure the right amount of chemical and cautic soda that you want to use

  • Mix the chemical ( hydrogen sulphate )with the caustic soda and hot water

  • Dip the cloth material that is already tied with water proof rafia or tread into the mixture of chemical, caustic soda and hot water

  • stir

  • allow the cloth material to absorb the water mixture of chemical and caustic soda

  • pull out the cloth and allow it to dry by spreading on a rope in the sun
