WEEK 3

National security could mean any defence arrangement or plan by a nation which is good enough to successfully resist hostile or destructive action within or outside a country. National security should be placed above any personal or business interest anybody , corporate organisation or ethnic group may have .

Examples of Crimes that poses as a threat to National Security 

The following are some of the crimes that affect national security;

PIPELINE VANDALISATION : This is an unpatriotic act of willfully destroying pipes that carry petroleum products.it brings unnecessary hardship on the nation as these products become scarce and expensive,it also leads to water pollution and destruction of farmlands used for agriculture purposes.

Causes of pipeline vandalisation : 

Grievance with government

Get rich quick syndrome’

Lack of patriotism for the nation

Effects of pipeline vandalism

loss of life

loss of revenue by government

insufficient funds for government projects

suffering and hardship

scarcity of petroleum products

fire incidents

oil spilage

Prevention

Government should dialogue with Niger delta leader,

More security measure should be put in place to protect the pipelines

Urgent steps should be taken to bring visible development of oil producing areas
