TOPIC: First Aid and Duties of First Aiders

CONTENT:

First aid is the care given to a sick or an injured person before taking to the hospital for skilled medical treatment.

First Aiders are people who give help to a sick or injured person. They could be our parents, brothers, sisters, classmates, nurses, teachers or neighbours.

DUTIES OF FIRST AIDERS INCLUDE:

1. He or she must be able to know the condition of the victim (sick person) and give correct care.

1. He or she should make sure the victim is breathing.

1. He or she should control the crowd from gathering round the victim.

1. He or she should be able to go to any accidents or sickness quickly.

1. He or she should arrange for medical assistance for the victim without delay.

1. He or she should calm the victim down by talking to him or her in a friendly manner.

1. He or she must clean and dress the victim’s wounds to prevent germs from entering them.
