  • Composition – creative writing, Descriptive, Narrative, Inventive.

Please note

Year 1-2 learners are to be encouraged to apply inventive spelling – this is according to the word and how it sounds in their ears. The teachers can then use conventional spellings to encourage and correct the learner (conventional spelling) is the normal form of spellings.

 

The creative writhing can be broken down in these methods for year 1-2

1st term – Oral composition – giving vivid description about what the learner wants to talk about.

2nd term – Narrative – put stories, pictures to what they want to talk about

3rd term – descriptive – ability to apply enough words to use in writing

Each learner comes across different type of words all the phase of each class the ability to spell and apply the inventive spelling should be encouraged and the teacher corrects with the conventional spelling.

Teachers – Be mindful of Inventive spelling which is likely to occur – Inventive spelling is the words the learner write according to the way it sounds in his/her ears.

MATHEMATICS – Our statutory requirement

We want our children to be hardworking, literate and numerate. Each child has the ability to;

  • To take on challenges and communicate mathematical terms
          1. Be prepare for real life, using mathematical terms in a range of situations

and subjects

  • Daily mental practice enables learners to become fluent in the fundamental
    1. of mathematics
  • Children are regularly presented with problem solving activities, which

challenge their thinking on mental mathematical expectation (Numbers,

Measurement and Geometry)

  • This allows them to use, reason and apply their skills and use appropriate

mathematical language in range of situations

GEOGRAPH

We want our children to be;

  • Inspired and curious about the world and its people
  • Learn about Different countries of the world, what special about them and

their stimulate* and differences

  • To know the processes that gives rise to the key physical and human

geographical feature of the world

  • To know how landscapes are formed and charged
  • Use of field work, search engines, videos to explore and teach
  • Recognize their own impact on their local communities and identify

opportunities to improve

  • Collect, analyses, interpret and communicate them finding in different ways
  • To experience using a wide range of secondary sources

SCIENCE

  • To know and apply qualities of a good scientist especially with team work

and perseverance

  • To be able to ask questions, plan, record, take accurate measurement and

draw conclusions, using appropriate scientific knowledge

  • To explore and investigate how inspirational science is and how it has and is

begin used in real life situation and to be able to give examples of this

 

HISTORY

  • To inspire in children a curiosity to know more about the past
  • To know and understand significant aspects of Nigeria and the wider world

including people, events and changes

  • To know how Nigeria has influenced and been influenced by the wider

world

  • To put events, people, objects and changes in chorological order. To know

their own place in time

  • To know why, how things changed over time, understanding that actions

have consequences

  • To know how different types of evidence are used to draw conclusion

about the past and how evidence can be interpreted in different ways

  • To learn about local history, investigate local area over time
  • To experience and explore a wide range of secondary source including

stories, eye – witness, account, picture, photographs, art* and historic

building

  • To enrich and deeper historical learning through visits to museums galleries

and sits and by welcoming to the school
