Behavioural Objectives :  By the end of the lesson, the learners should be able to

  • explain the causes of crimes in our community
  • say the effects of common crimes in our community
  • write out the possible punishment for offenders

TOPIC; COMMON CRIMES IN OUR ENVIRONMENT

The following are some of the crime most often committed in the society and the punishment they attract;

THEFT; This is the act of stealing another persons property,it has to do with taking another persons property without his /her permission,for instance,if a student takes his colleagues biro or book without permission,it is theft,

CAUSES OF THEFT;

lack of contentment

crave for money and materialism

covetousness

kleptomania

peer group influence

laziness

EFFECTS OF THEFT;

it tarnishes good image

it attracts serious punishment

it unleashes hardship on the victim

it may lead to huge financial loss on the victim

PUNISHMENT FOR THEFT

The punishment comes in different forms depending on the gravity of the offence,;;

life imprisonment

seven years imprisonment

three years imprisonment

Twenty years imprisonment

The major punishment for theft by law is imprisonment ,The number of months or years to be spent in prison depends on what is stolen and the mode of stealing,the judge will have to determine this,

in Islamic judicial system system [Sharia] some people may lose their hand or leg for stealing,

He introduces the new topic

 

Step 3:

The class teacher allows the pupils to give their own examples and he corrects them when the needs arise

Conclusion :

 

The class teacher wraps up or conclude the lesson by giving out short note to summarize the topic that he or she has just taught.

The class teacher also goes round to make sure that the notes are well copied or well written by the pupils.

He or she does the necessary corrections when and where  the needs arise.
