PDE 717 EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY.

1. With sufficient points, distinguish between Teaching aids and Instructional media.

2. Enumerate five (5) reasons to justify the use of Instructional media in teaching-learning process.

3. Educational Technology is an indispensable tool in teaching and learning processes. Discuss.

4. Briefly explain, with examples where necessary, the following components as related to computer: (i) CPU (ii) Memory (iii) Input devices (iv) Output devices

5. Critically examine the six (6) steps/procedures in the systematic planning for the use of media using the ASSURE model.

6. Educational Technology in Nigeria is faced with a lot of constraints. Identify five (5) of these constraints and suggest ways of overcoming them 6. Justify with reasons why follow-up inspection is necessary.

  1. Teaching aids are tools or materials that assist teachers in delivering lessons, such as chalkboards, models, or charts. Instructional media are multimedia materials used to convey information, like videos, slides, or interactive software.
  2. Reasons to use instructional media in teaching-learning processes include enhancing engagement, accommodating diverse learning styles, improving comprehension, facilitating remote learning, and keeping up with technological advancements.
  3. Educational Technology is indispensable because it enhances teaching and learning by providing tools for interactive and effective instruction, supporting remote education, and keeping pace with the digital age.
  4. Brief explanations for the components related to a computer:
    • CPU (Central Processing Unit): The “brain” of the computer that processes data.
    • Memory: Storage for data and programs (e.g., RAM for temporary storage).
    • Input devices: Devices like keyboards and mice used to input data.
    • Output devices: Devices such as monitors and printers used to display or produce information.
  5. The ASSURE model consists of six steps for systematic planning in media use, which include Analyzing learners, State objectives, Select media, Utilize media, Require learner participation, and Evaluate and revise.
  6. Constraints in educational technology in Nigeria include inadequate infrastructure, limited funding, lack of trained personnel, curriculum misalignment, and issues related to digital access. Overcoming these challenges could involve investments in infrastructure, teacher training, curriculum adaptation, and addressing access disparities.
  7. Follow-up inspections are necessary to assess the effectiveness of educational programs and ensure that the intended learning outcomes are achieved. They help identify areas for improvement and maintain quality in education.
