The Local Government Chairperson
- The Local Government is a level of government that is smaller than the State government and bigger than the community.
- Each Local Government has a leader called the Local Government Chairperson or Chairman.
- The Local Government Chairperson is elected by the people who live in the Local Government area.
- The Chairperson’s job is to make sure that the Local Government area is well run and that the people who live there are happy.
- The Chairperson is responsible for making decisions about things like building schools, hospitals, and roads, and making sure that there is enough money to pay for these things.
- The Chairperson also works closely with the State government to make sure that the Local Government area gets the help and support it needs from the State.
- The Chairperson is accountable to the people who elected him or her, and should listen to their concerns and ideas about how to make the Local Government area a better place to live.
