Rewards of Obedience
- Joseph: Joseph was a young man who was sold into slavery by his own brothers. Despite this difficult circumstance, he remained obedient to God and his earthly masters. He worked hard and was eventually promoted to a high position in the house of Pharaoh. Later, he was able to use his position to save his family and many others from famine. Joseph’s obedience was rewarded with success and the opportunity to make a significant impact on his world.
- David: David was a young shepherd boy who was chosen by God to become the king of Israel. Despite facing many challenges and difficulties, he remained faithful to God and obedient to His commands. David’s obedience was rewarded with military victories, a prosperous reign, and the promise that his dynasty would continue through his descendants.
- The three Hebrews: Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were three young men who refused to bow down to the golden statue of King Nebuchadnezzar, even though they knew it could cost them their lives. They remained obedient to God and were miraculously saved from the fiery furnace. Their obedience was rewarded with not only their physical safety but also the respect of the king and the promotion to high positions in the government.
- Esther: Esther was a young Jewish woman who became queen of Persia. Despite the risk to her own life, she used her position to advocate for her people and to save them from being destroyed. Esther’s obedience was rewarded with success in her mission and the preservation of her people.
In each of these examples, obedience to God and his commands resulted in various forms of reward, such as success, safety, and promotion. These Bible characters serve as great examples for us today, reminding us that obedience to God is not always easy, but it is always worth it
Obedience means to adhere to laid down instructions of any given society which enables the smooth running of the society. To obey the laws of the land helps the society to progress socially, morally, economically and politically. To obey instructions could come individually or corporately. There are people that obeyed instructions given to them by God and they were rewarded for it.
Rewards for obedience refer to the positive outcomes or benefits that someone receives when they obey rules or follow instructions. These rewards can be both tangible and intangible and can vary depending on the situation and context.
Examples of rewards for obedience may include:
- Academic rewards: A student who consistently obeys school rules, attends classes regularly, and completes assignments on time may receive good grades, scholarships, or academic awards.
- Professional rewards: An employee who obeys company policies, works hard, and demonstrates loyalty to the company may receive promotions, bonuses, or salary increases.
- Social rewards: A person who obeys social norms, such as showing respect to elders, being polite, and helping others, may receive recognition, admiration, and a good reputation in their community.
- Personal rewards: A person who obeys their conscience, values, and beliefs may experience personal growth, inner peace, and a sense of fulfillment.
In each of these examples, obedience leads to positive outcomes or rewards. These rewards can provide motivation and encouragement to continue obeying rules and following instructions.
However, it’s important to note that obedience should not be solely motivated by rewards. True obedience should come from a desire to do what is right and to honor authority. Ultimately, obedience to God’s commands brings the greatest reward, which is a deeper relationship with Him and an eternal reward in heaven.

JOSEPH GEN.39: 7-12
The Personality of Joseph
Joseph, the son of Jacob, is a Bible character known for his strong character, integrity, and leadership abilities. He was sold into slavery by his own brothers and ended up in Egypt, where he was bought by Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh. Despite facing many challenges and difficulties, Joseph remained obedient to God and his earthly masters and worked hard in everything he did.
One of Joseph’s most notable traits was his ability to interpret dreams. God gave him the gift of interpreting dreams, which led to him interpreting Pharaoh’s dream about the seven years of abundance and the seven years of famine. Because of this, Joseph was promoted to the position of governor over all of Egypt, where he oversaw the storage and distribution of food during the famine.
Another important aspect of Joseph’s personality was his forgiveness and compassion. Despite his brothers’ betrayal, he forgave them and even provided for them during the famine. He demonstrated compassion and kindness to his family, even though they had mistreated him.
Additionally, Joseph was known for his strong moral character. When Potiphar’s wife tried to seduce him, he refused her advances and remained faithful to God. He also demonstrated integrity when he refused to compromise his principles or his loyalty to God, even when it meant facing punishment or imprisonment.
In summary, Joseph’s personality was characterized by his strong character, integrity, and leadership abilities. He was a man of faith, humility, and compassion, who remained obedient to God and his earthly masters in the face of adversity. His story serves as an excellent example of how obedience and faithfulness to God can lead to success and blessing in life
Joseph was a slave in the house of Portiphar, the captain of the guards of Pharaoh. Joseph behaved himself and was meticulous in his dealings. This made his master to entrust everything that he has into the hands of Joseph except his wife. The house of Portiphar prospered because God was with Joseph. However, Portiphar’s wife liked Joseph and wanted him to have sexual relationship her. She disturbed him for several days and prevailed not.
On a particular day, Joseph was going about his duties in the house and there was nobody in the house that Portiphar’s wife grabbed him by his garment and told him to lie with him. Joseph left his garment with her and fled. When she realized what happened, she cried out to the men and told them about the attempted rape that Joseph wanted to do. She narrated her own side of the event when her husband came and Portiphar was angry with Joseph and put him into the prison. From there, Joseph met the cupbearer who later introduced him to Pharaoh and he became the Prime Minister of Egypt.

The three Hebrew . Dan.3: 1-30
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were three young Hebrew men who were taken captive to Babylon along with many other young men from Jerusalem. They were given new names and were trained in the ways of the Babylonians. However, they remained faithful to God and refused to worship the golden statue that King Nebuchadnezzar had set up. Their boldness and unwavering faith in God led to one of the most well-known and inspiring stories in the Bible.
Here are some examples of the boldness of the three Hebrew men:
- They refused to worship the golden statue: When King Nebuchadnezzar commanded everyone to worship the golden statue he had set up, the three Hebrew men refused to obey. They knew that worshiping an idol was against God’s commandments, and they were not willing to compromise their faith for the sake of the king’s decree. Their boldness in the face of potential death shows their unwavering faith in God.
- They faced the consequences of their actions: When the three Hebrew men refused to worship the golden statue, King Nebuchadnezzar ordered that they be thrown into a fiery furnace. However, even as they faced death, they remained steadfast in their faith and boldly proclaimed their trust in God. Their courage and boldness to face the consequences of their actions are a testament to their faith in God.
- They trusted in God’s deliverance: When the three Hebrew men were thrown into the fiery furnace, they trusted in God’s deliverance. They knew that God was able to save them from the flames, but even if He didn’t, they would still remain faithful to Him. Their boldness and trust in God’s power and sovereignty are an example to all believers.
In summary, the boldness of the three Hebrew men was demonstrated through their refusal to compromise their faith, their willingness to face the consequences of their actions, and their trust in God’s deliverance. Their story is a reminder to all believers that standing up for our faith may require boldness and courage, but God is always faithful to those who remain faithful to Him

They replied him that their God will deliver them from the furnace and from his hands and if he does not, they will not serve his god.
King Nebuchadnezzar was furious and ordered that the furnace be heated seven times more and that his mighty men in the army should bind them and throw them into the furnace. The Hebrew men were grabbed and thrown into the fire. The heat of the fire consumed the mighty men of Babylon. However, the Hebrew men were walking inside the fire unhurt.
