Meanings of Punctuality and Regularity

Punctuality is the quality of being prompt, precise or exact. Punctuality can also mean the quality of doing something at the arranged or correct time. It is the direct opposite of lateness. Regularity means the fact that something is well arranged or arranged in an organized pattern. It also means doing the same thing regularly over time or a thing that has a pattern to it.

Punctuality and Regularity at work are twin concepts as you cannot just be punctual in a day but must be able to be consistently regular.

Attributes of Punctuality and Regularity

  1. Commitment: This is the willingness to work hard and give your energy and time to a job or activity.
  2.    Interest: Interest is the feeling that you have when you want to know or learn more about something or somebody.
  3. Promptness: This means acting without delay.
  4. Consistency: This means the quality of always behaving in the same way or having the same standard. Regularity and consistency are closely related.
  5. Self-motivation: A worker who is regularly punctual displays self-motivation to get the job done on time.
  6. Accountability: There is a display of accountability when a worker shows punctuality and regularity. He/she proves he can be accountable when put in positions of authority.

Rewards for Punctuality and Regularity

  1. High performance: A worker who is punctual and regular will display high-performance in his duties. He will develop faster on the job as a result of interest and commitment. This will help to increase his productivity and expertise on the job.
  2. Promotion: The punctual and regular worker stands the chance of being promoted in the establishment. He will be perceived to be a dedicated employee who could be relied upon for results in the discharge of his duties.
  3. A better team player: A regular punctual worker will work with others better. He will perform his/her duties for the good of the organization. He will cooperate with all the other employees to achieve the goals of the establishment.
  4. Devotion to Duty: Devotion is the great love, care and support for something or somebody. Devotion to work is therefore a great love, care and support for what one does as one’s occupation. A devout worker will display attributes that will see him rise to the top of his chosen career.

Effects of Devotion to Duty on Productivity and Development

A devoted worker will increase productivity as he will give his best to his duties. This will lead to mastery of his duties and high performance. This will help personal development.

The wealth of the world will increase as a devoted worker will contribute more to productivity and economic development.

It will prevent wastage of resources. Lack of devotion can lead to the failure of the economy.

All other workers will be challenged when they see the promotion of a devoted worker. This in turn will ensure that all workers imbibe the culture. This will lead to increased productivity and development.
