Youth form the working population of every nation. The youth is the moving wheel that drives the economy of the nation forward. They are the brain, the engine room and the spinal cord of every nation as youth occupies strategy position in the nation’s army, marketing or labour market.

What is Youth Development?

Youth development implies the series of changes, be it social, emotional, physiological or spiritual that is observed as a child grows and changes from a toddler, baby, to adulthood.

It is the general state of well being of changes that is observed in human.

It is the process that starts in human infancy and continues into late adolescent concentrating on the total well-being of such adult

As a child learns what their bodies can do, they gain self-confidence through trial and error , learning from mistakes and improving on them and thereby promoting social and emotional development.

However food must be eaten in moderation in order to prevent stomach bloating or obesity.

2. Exercise : Exercise involves moving the parts of the body in such a way to burn calories, fats and carbs that may not be good for proper growth and development of youths. Regular exercise also strengthens our limbs and joints and enables us to have stronger bones and sturdy muscles.

3. Heredity : Heredity involves the transfer of growth genes from parents to their children. This is a basic factor that affects growth and development. Growth hormones are easily transfer from parents to their children and this causes a sort of resemblance between child and parent. There is a possibility of dwarf parents having dwarf children. Tall parents may end up having tall children and parents that are fat may have fat children irrespective of the amount of food consumption or the amount of exercise.

4. Sleep and Rest : Sleep is a very deep state of rest that makes the body regains lost energy. It is a state of inaction that makes us close our eyes and remains in body with the aim of relaxing. Rest is a short break from work. When we work very hard, we may get tired. When we are tired, then we must take a break and rest. People that work continuously with taking proper rest, break or sleep may not grow or develop properly. The eyes will become heavy with stress. A person is expected to have a good sleep for at least six hours in a day.

5. Environment : Our environment is our habitats. It is our dwelling place of abode. Our environment is where we live. Our environment significantly affects our growth and development as poor, dirty, filthy environment harbours and breed diseases and germs.
