INTRODUCTION (RECYCLING)
Why Recycling.
Recycling saves the atmosphere and e wry living things on the surface of the earth
Recycling can prevent the waste of potentially useful materials.
Recycling reduces the consumption of fresh materials, thereby reducing: energy usage and wastage ,prevents air pollution (from incineration), and reduces water pollution (from landfilling).
MEANING OF RECYCLING
Recycling simply means converting waste to wealth.
It involves converting, changing, or transforming old, worn out or scraps to new, fresh, reusable materials
Recycling is the changing waste or used materials into new objects or materials.
When waste or used materials are reused, it is called RECYCLING.
What are the materials that can be RECYCLED
1. Metal
2. PAPER or cardboard
3. Glass
4. Clothes materials
5. tires
6. Old plastic buckets or chairs or packer
7. Some reusable parts of electronic items like computer, radio, télévision etc
HOW TO ADD VALUE THROUGH MAINTENANCE (RECYCLING)
The local laws of any country guides waste disposal and recycling. This is necessary in oder to protect that atmosphere, water system and air from being contaminated.
In Lagos state, there are laws guiding waste disposal and refuse burning.
Lagos state has its own government body that is responsible for waste disposal and recycling.
It is called Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA)
SOME artists that are creative enough are also turning waste materials to more valuable materials for decoration like
making chairs out of old tyres,
makings swing out of tyres,
painting tyres,
using tyres for snail farming
and so on and so forth
Art and recycling goes hand in hand. Artists are, nowadays, transforming old, recycled and reused objects into amazing pieces of contemporary art.
Artists are expressing their emotions and ideas through a wide range of recyclables: glass, cans, plastics, CDs, PET bottles, broken tiles, etc.
For example:
1. Broke Tiles
Reusable value
Value added to broke tiles
2. Chair made from old water bottle
Some old tyres can be used as generator stand or waste paper basket stand
Some neat poly bags can be washed and reused
Some people are involved in waste management and recycling like LAGOS STATE WASTE MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY (LAWMA)
