Comprehension Passage

Animals and their sounds

Animals are fascinating creatures that come in all shapes and sizes. They also make different sounds that help us identify them.

For example, have you ever heard a rooster crow in the morning? That’s the sound they make to let us know it’s a new day!

Another animal that makes a unique sound is a cow. They “moo” to communicate with each other and sometimes to get our attention when they want food.

Cats like to “meow” when they want something, like food or to go outside. Dogs, on the other hand, can bark loudly to warn us if they sense danger or if they’re excited to see us.

Some animals make very strange sounds that might surprise you! For instance, have you ever heard a chimpanzee scream or a parrot mimic human speech?

Learning about animal sounds can be a fun and educational experience. Next time you’re outside, try to identify the sounds you hear around you. You might be surprised at how many different animal sounds you can recognize!
