Content:

Plants are living organism that take in carbon dioxide and produce oxygen.

Food is what we eat that give us energy and strength.

We eat food to sustain and maintain a good healthy lifestyle

Plants grow in the soil

They can manufacture their food by themselves.

The process whereby plants manufacture their food is known as photosynthesis

They beautify our environment and can be found everywhere.

However some plants are used as food.

We eat the leaves, seeds, stems or roots of some plants as food.

Examples of plants that are used as food

  2. Cassava
  3. Sugar cane
  4. Potatoes
  5. Carrots
  6. Cucumber
  7. Mango
  8. Rice
  9. Beans
  10. Cowpea
  11. Cashew
  12. Tomatoes
  13. Banana

  16. Pawpaw
  17. Melon
  18. Watermelon

 

The class teacher should get pictures or charts showing different types of plants and show the pupils

Types of plants includes:-

  1. Water leaf flower
  2. Cowpea flower
  3. Paw paw tree
  4. Mango tree
  5. Iroko tree etc

 

Presentation

 

The topic is presented step by step

 

Step 1:

The class teacher revises the previous topics

 

Step 2.

He introduces the new topic

 

Step 3:

The class teacher allows the pupils to give their own examples and he corrects them when the needs arise

 

 

Conclusion

The class teacher wraps up or conclude the lesson by giving out short note to summarize the topic that he or she has just taught.

The class teacher also goes round to make sure that the notes are well copied or well written by the pupils.

He or she does the necessary corrections when and where  the needs arise.
