Meaning of Entrepreneur or Management
An entrepreneur or management refers to the person or group of persons who organize, co-ordinate and control the use of other factors of production. This is the person responsible for directing the affairs of the farm’s administration.
He is the farm manager and the ultimate risk bearer. He takes important managerial decisions involving:
- what to produce
- how much to produce
- where to produce
- what methods of production to use
- where to sell the produce and
- when and how to sell the produce
Characteristics of Management
The following are the characteristics of management:
- It is neither variable nor fixed.
- The cost of management is determined by its quality.
- It involves the use of mental energy in production.
- Its quality influences output.
- Its reward is profit.
Importance of Entrepreneur or Management in Agricultural Production
The importance of the entrepreneur or management in agricultural production include the following:
- It co-ordinates and controls other factors of production
- It takes decisions about the farm business.
- It manages the farm business in order to make profit.
- It determines the level of pay or wages.
- Management influences the organization.
