What is Colour ?
Colour means hue. It is the appearance or shade or look of things . It is the tint of image . Examples of colours are green , blue , yellow , white , black , etc
Color is the visual property of objects that results from the reflection, scattering, or emission of light in the visible spectrum. It is one of the main features used by humans to recognize and identify objects. There are many ways to describe color, including hue, saturation, and brightness. Different people may perceive color differently, and certain colors may have different meanings or associations in different cultures.
Hue is one aspect of color that refers to the pure spectrum colors, such as red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. These colors are typically thought of as the “pure” colors, as they cannot be created by mixing other colors together.
In some contexts, the word “color” is used to refer specifically to hue. However, in other contexts, the word “color” may be used more broadly to refer to all aspects of color, including hue, saturation, and brightness. So, it really depends on the context in which the word “color” is being used.
Major Categories of Colours
- Primary Colours : These are the mothers of all colours .They are so called mothers of all colours because they cannot be produced by mixing other colours. These primary colours are Yellow , Red and Blue.
- Secondary Colours : These are the colours that will be produced when two primary colours are mixed together in equal quantity . (blue + yellow = Green) (yellow + red = orange ) etc
- Tertiary Colours : These colours are obtained when two primary colours are mixed together
- Warm colors: These colors are typically associated with heat and warmth, and they often evoke feelings of comfort and relaxation. Warm colors include red, orange, and yellow.
- Cool colors: These colors are typically associated with coolness and calm, and they often evoke feelings of tranquility and serenity. Cool colors include blue, green, and purple.
- Neutral colors: These colors are not typically associated with any particular emotion or feeling. Neutral colors include black, white, gray, and brown.

The components of light (Rainbow) 🌈
A rainbow is a natural phenomenon that occurs when light is refracted, or bent, as it passes through water droplets in the air. When this happens, the different wavelengths of light are separated out into a spectrum of colors, creating the characteristic rainbow pattern. The seven colors of the rainbow, in order of longest to shortest wavelength, are:
- Red: This is the color at the end of the visible spectrum of light, with the longest wavelength. It is often associated with love, warmth, and passion.
- Orange: This is a warm, vibrant color that is a combination of red and yellow. It is often associated with joy, sunshine, and autumn.
- Yellow: This is a bright, cheerful color that is often associated with happiness and positivity.
- Green: This is a cool, calming color that is often associated with nature and tranquility.

- Blue: This is a cool, calming color that is often associated with the sky and the ocean. It is often associated with trust, dependability, and stability.
- Indigo: This is a deep, rich color that is a combination of blue and violet. It is often associated with spirituality and creativity.
- Violet: This is the color at the end of the visible spectrum of light, with the shortest wavelength. It is often associated with royalty, luxury, and spirituality.
