LASG RELEASES APPROVED Y2024/2025 HARMONISED ACADEMIC SCHOOL CALENDAR
In a bid to ensure a harmonised academic calendar for both public and private schools below the tertiary level in Lagos State, the Office of Education Quality Assurance (OEQA) has released the calendar for the 2024/2025 academic year as approved by the Hon. Commissioner, Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Jamiu Tolani Alli-Balogun.
Speaking at the OEQA office in Alausa, Ikeja on Friday, the Director of the Quality Assurance Department, OEQA, Mrs. Hameedat Mojisola Sanni, stated that all schools in Lagos State will resume for the first term of the 2024/2025 academic session on Monday, September 9th, 2024.
The Director further disclosed that the Harmonized Academic School Calendar is the result of recent meetings with stakeholders in the education sector, including school administrators, members of various private school associations, proprietors, and other relevant stakeholders.
According to her, the purpose of the academic calendar is to ensure students spend productive learning hours in the classrooms and to serve as a pre-emptive measure for planning unforeseen events. The approved 2024/2025 harmonised school calendar will ensure uniformity across schools in Lagos State.
She advised school administrators to access or download the 2024/2025 approved academic calendar via www.oeqalagos.com and assured stakeholders that prioritising harmonised instructional days of learning for all schools in Lagos State remains a key objective.
The Director also announced that the OEQA has provided a link, https://forms.gle/w2aEkZC1sZvQfeH86, for online applications for flexibility until Friday, August 2nd, 2024.

Important Notes:
- Schools are to maintain a minimum of 180 learning days.
- Observance of Open Days is mandatory and the timing is at the discretion of schools.
- Observance of Public Holidays is mandatory and subject to Federal Government announcement.
- Schools operating international curricular and wishing to be considered for different dates apart from the approved 2024/2025 Harmonized Academic Calendar must complete the Calendar Flexibility Application by Friday, 2nd August 2024.
