Comprehension Passage: An Indelible Day in My Memory

There is a day that will continue to remain indelible in my memory. It is the day that I learnt a bitter lesson, which I will pass on to my children. I was then about eleven years old. My father and I woke up early so that he could attend the wedding ceremony of one of my aunties, taking place in another town. My mother had, the previous week, been invited by the Chukwus to assist Kelechi in taking care of Chile, the first grandson of my parents. My father expected that I would be eager to accompany him because I always loved to go out.

That morning, I was excited and got ready quickly. We boarded a bus heading to the wedding venue. Along the way, my father noticed a man driving recklessly and warned the driver to slow down. Unfortunately, the warning was ignored. Suddenly, there was a loud crash, and the bus came to a halt. I was scared and shaken but grateful to be alive. Thankfully, no one was seriously injured, but I learned an important lesson about the dangers of reckless behavior.

The rest of the day was peaceful, and we enjoyed the wedding ceremony. However, the experience on the road remained with me. From that day, I promised myself to always value safety and caution in all my actions.
