Content:
Insects are small tiny living things that are found almost everywhere. Some of them have wings while some of them do not have wings. Some Insects can fly while some cannot fly.
Some Insects are not harmful. They are good Insects and they are farmer’s friends. Examples of good Insects that are not harmful are butterfly, bee etc
Some Insects are dangerous and harmful. These Insects are enemies to farmers. Farmers do not like these Insects because they destroy farmer’s produce and harvest. Examples of bad harmful Insects are termites, grasshoppers etc.
Classification of Insects with Examples
- Piercing and sucking Insects . These insect bite and suck their victims. Examples are thrips, moth, scale insects, capsids, green spider mites etc.
- Biting and chewing Insects . Examples are grasshoppers, termites, mantis, army worms, caterpillars
- Boring Insects . Examples are weevils, stem borers, beetles, cotton boll worm etc

The Major Division of An insect body
The three major division of an insect is of three division which are
- The Head : The head contains the eyes, the antenna, the feeler and the mouth
- The Thorax : The thorax is just like a comparison to human chest. It is the major link or attachment between the head and the abdomen.
- The Abdomen : The abdomen house the wings, and the legs. It is not all Insects that have wings. Some Insects do not have wings. All Insects have three pairs of legs on each side of the abdomen, making it a total of six legs in all.
Note
A spider is not classified as an insect because it does not have three body division segment nor six legs. A spider has two body division and eight legs. A spider is classified as an arthropod.
