WEEK 2

DATE:…………………………………..

TOPIC:    GOD, THE CONTROLLER OF THE UNIVERSE:

CONTENT:

  • GOD’S CONTROL THE UNIVERSE, GEN. 1: 26-31; AMOS 9: 1-6.
  • GOD CONTROLS THE AFFAIRS OF THE NATIONS JEREMIAH 18: 1-6
  • GOD CONTROLS THE AFFAIRS OF INDIVIDUALS PSALM 127: 1-3; JERE. 29: 11. ROM. 8: 28

SUB-TOPIC 1: GOD’S CONTROL OVER THE UNIVERSE. GEN. 1: 26-31; AMOS 9: 1-6.

All things, including man, came into existence through the creative work of God and their continuous existence is subject to His will. God stays in heaven, controlling and watching man as he carries out God’s instructions.

As the chief controller, the existence, nourishment and sustenance of the entire creation depend upon God. Man is incomparable with Him. The highest responsibility of man is to assemble, organize or supervise what God has already made.

God had completed all the work of creation before man was created. In the light of this, man must not misuse the authority given to him by God for evil because he is accountable unto God on the day of judgment. He should not be power drunk because his life is subject to God’s control.

SUB-TOPIC 2: GOD CONTROLS THE AFFAIRS OF THE NATIONS JEREMIAH 18: 1-6

The book of Jeremiah analyzed how God has control over the affairs of a nation. Jeremiah was instructed by God to go down to the potter’s house to work at his wheel. The vessel he made with clay was spoiled in his hand and he remoulded it into another vessel as it seems good to him. God spoke through Jeremiah to the nation of Israel that, He can do likewise to the nation of Israel, if they did not turn or repent from their evil ways. All nations are like clay in the potter hand of God.

The nation of Israel real was advised to turned away from their evil ways, so that God will not destroy them. As clay is in the hand of the potter to mould and remould, so are all nations in the hand of God. Any nation that will follow its own plan and will according to the stubbornness of its heart will be destroyed and pulled down. More so any time God declares destruction concerning a nation or kingdom and such nation turns from its evil’s ways, He will repent of the evil that He intended to do to it.

SUB-TOPIC 3: GOD CONTROLS THE AFFAIRS OF INDIVIDUALS PSALM 127: 1-3. JEREMIAH 29: 11;

ROM. 8: 28.

God is the sole controller of every individual affair. Unless the Lord watches over us the watchman stays awake in vain. God gives to his beloved sleep. He has plans for his children, a plan for welfare and not evil to give them a future and hope. God works for good with those who love Him, who are called according to His purpose.
