Week 3

Phonological Awareness – Identify rhyming words 

Speech Work – identification of objects in the classroom and compound 

Structure – identification with emphasis on the article “a” and “and”

Vocabulary – New words 

Reading – Reading of the names of the objects in the classroom 

Writing – Writing of the letters of the alphabets 

 

 

 

 

Week 4

Phonological Awareness – building rhyming words families  

Speech Work – Naming of the objects in the kitchen  

Structure – Use of the objects in the kitchen 

Vocabulary – New words 

Reading – Pictorial reading of the objects on the road 

Writing – Writing of the first letters of the objects mentioned this week 

 

 

 

 

Week 5

Phonological Awareness – Songs and rhymes 

Speech Work – Counting one to five in words and figures 

Structure – matching together of figures and words together 

Vocabulary – New words 

Reading – Identification of objects. Picture reading 

Writing – Writing out of two letter words 

 

 

 

Week 6

Phonological Awareness – Names of the upper and lower cases letters of the alphabets 

Speech Work – Identification and pronunciation of words like dog, pot 

Structure – Identification of objects with emphasis on the article “a” and “an”

Vocabulary – New words 

Reading – Pictorial reading of objects that go with “an”

Writing – Writing of two letter words 

 

 

Week 7

Phonological Awareness – Blending sounds of letters to form words 

Speech Work – Introduction of self 

Structure – Differentiation of sex. She is a girl 

Vocabulary – New words 

Reading – Blending sounds of letters to form words eg /v/ + an ( to form van) 

Writing – Writing two letter words 

 

 

 

Week 8

Phonological Awareness – Identification of familar sounds eg mouse / house 

Speech Work – Introduction of person (self) eg I am a girl 

Structure -Differentiation of sex e.g. he is a boy, she is a girl 

Vocabulary – New words 

Reading -Reading pictures

Writing -Writing two letters 

 

 

 

Week 9

Phonological Awareness – Use sounds of letter to form three letter words  

Speech Work – Identification and pronunciation of names of objects 

Structure – More on simple command 

Vocabulary – New words 

Reading – Pictures reading of introduction of person

Writing – Writing of two letter words (cont) 

 

 

 

Week 10

Phonological Awareness – use letter – sound correspondence to build and read unfamiliar words 

Speech Work – Identification / Pronunciation of names of objects as cup, hut etc  

Structure – More on simple command e.g. bring that ruler 

Vocabulary – New words

Reading – Picture reading

Structure – Revision of area of difficulty
