Content : 

What is food? 

Food is what we eat or drink that makes us grow healthy, wealthy, and wise.

 

What are nutrients? 

Nutrients are the ingredients or substances that are there in the food that we eat or drink that make us strong, healthy and energetic. These nutrients build our body, give us energy and protect us from diseases or infections.

 

What is adequate or balanced diet?

When a meal, diet or food is said to be adequate or balanced, the speaker is just referring to the ability of the person that prepare the meal to combine some or all the classes of food in the right proportion or quantity.

 

Classes Of Food.

There are six classes of food which are

  1. Carbohydrates : bread, yam, rice
  2. Proteins : egg, meat, chicken,
  3. Vitamins : orange, banana, Mango
  4. Fats and oil : butter, cheese, melon
  5. Mineral salt : table salt,
  6. Water : table water, pure water, bottle water

 

What are nutritional foods? 

These are adequate or balanced diets. These are meals that contains all classes of food in the right quantity and proportion.These combination of food or meal are not far fetched in Nigeria as most Nigerian meals combinations are always balanced or adequate diets.

Examples are

  1. Jollof rice with salad
  2. Eba combined with ewedu and bokotor
  3. Tuwo shinkafa with orange juice

Step 1 : The class teacher revises the old topic

Step 2 : The class teacher introduces the new topic

Step 3 : The class teacher allows the pupils to give their own contributions and gives room for pupils” participation

 

Class Teacher And Pupils Activities. Interaction or  Participation 

This involves class teacher  and pupils interaction , conversation , imitation or modeling through discussion , play method or just by recitation or asking and answering questions that are related to the topic that has just been taught

  • The class teacher ask the pupils to mention what meal or food type that they had as breakfast this morning
  • A pupil may be asked to mention some food examples under each class of food
  • The class teacher may help the young learners to stimulate preparation of diet meal by choosing a food item from each class of food
