Grammar: Tenses of Active and Passive Voice

A sentence is said to be in active voice when the subject of the sentence is the doer of action i n that sentence .

Examples are

  • Olu eats rice
  • Mummy sells apples
  • II love my school
  • The horses pull the wagon
  • The teacher drinks tea

A sentence is said to be in passive voice when a noun moves from the position of object in sentence and functions as the subject .

Examples are

  • Rice is eaten by Olu
  • Apples are sold by Mummy
  • My school is loved by me
  • The wagon are pulled by the horses
  • Tea is drunk by the teacher

Evaluation 

Rewrite these sentences that are in simple present tenses in Passive voice

Composition:

Elements of Descriptive Essay

Descriptive Essays are purposely written for the purpose of describing a person , situation , animal ,places ,ideas or concepts The tense that is used in descriptive essay is always simple present tense because we are describing things or situation that are still is . These are the factors that must be bear in made whenever we are writing a descriptive essay 

  • Specific description of names 
  • Shapes or colour that are involved  
  • Who are the people that are involved
  • vivid description of flow of events
  • make mention of the location of the event if the need be
  • make your character come alive by making reference to them in respect of sight , taste , smell or feeling
  • Use colour well.
  • Don’t overdo description
  • Practice writing description as continuous  practices leads to better ways of doing things 
  • Spice up your write up with figures of speech like metaphor , similes , assonance etc
  • Write about what you have fair or enough knowledge on .
  • Do not write on what you don:t know or cook up fake information . You may lose marks if you do so

Literature:  Prose, Setting , and Plot

Prose: Prose is one of the three literary genre which are Prose , Drama and Poetry . Prose is a literary work that is presented in a free flow written form and a prose is quite unlike drama that is written in dialogue format or Poetry that is written in lines of verses or stanzas  Prose is a literary device that is used to bring author’s thoughts , ideas or information into life .

Step 1:

The class teacher revises the previous topics

 

Step 2.

He introduces the new topic

 

Step 3:

The class teacher allows the pupils to give their own examples and he corrects them when the needs arise

Conclusion :

 

The class teacher wraps up or conclude the lesson by giving out short note to summarize the topic that he or she has just taught.

The class teacher also goes round to make sure that the notes are well copied or well written by the pupils.

He or she does the necessary corrections when and where  the needs arise.
