What is water ?

Water is liquid . It is made up of oxygen ad hydrogen . Water is life . About 60% of the human body is made up of water . Water aids in the digestion of food . About 71% of the earth surface is covered with ocean or water .

What are the sources of water ?

These are the sources of water for human use

  1. Rainfall
  2. Tap
  3. Well
  4. Ocean
  5. Sea
  6. River
  7. Dams
  8. Boreholes
  9. Lake
  10. Streams

What are the essence of Water to life ?

The following are the uses and essence of water to human existence

  1. For drinking
  2. For bathing
  3. For washing
  4. For digestion of food
  5. For regulation the body temperature
  6. For wetting flowers and young seedlings
  7. For generating electricity
  8. For balancing the eco system
  9. For getting rid of toxic elements from the body
  10. For providing homes for aquatic creatures .

What is rainfall ?

Rainfall is the sum total of the amount of water that drop as water droplets from the cloud. These water droplets that fall as rainfall are as the result of the activities of the condensation of the cloud in relationship to water cycle . Rainfall is also known as showers of rainfall. Within a cloud, water droplets condense onto one another, causing the droplets to grow. When these water droplets get too heavy to stay suspended in the cloud, they fall back to  earth as rainfall. Water vapor turns into clouds when it cools and condenses—that is, turns back into liquid water or ice

What is water cycle ?

Water cycle refers to the process whereby Water evaporates into the sky, condenses and falls back as rain. Water which evaporates usually disappears into the air around us. Evaporation takes place every day from the surface of water in the containers, in rivers, and in seas and oceans. If all these water never comes back somehow, we shall soon have no more water on earth. But it really comes back as rain. That is what happens when it rains and the ground gets dried up and the water surplus that we see as flood are no where to be found again.

Explain How Rain is  Formed

Water cycle is the movement of water in liquid or gaseous state from the earth surface to the atmosphere and back to the earth.

The Heat from the sun causes water to move as gas or vapour from the surface of the earth into the sky by evaporation. The water becomes cool and forms cloud by condensation, the cloud sends down the water back to the surface of the earth as rain.

The Relationship Between Rainfall and Water Cycle

The major sources of water are lakes, River Sea, ocean etc.

The process of rain formation is as follows:

When rain falls, some of the water goes to the streams, rivers, lakes, ponds, and sea while some water will fall on leaves and holes in trees.

The heat from the sun changes some of the water to vapor or gas (Evaporation). This vapor is carried up into the atmosphere.

The rising vapor meet cooler air in the sky and then forms clouds (condensation).

When the cloud becomes too big and heavy for the air to carry, it falls back to earth as rain.

Presentation

The topic is presented step by step

Step 1:

The class teacher revises the previous topics

Step 2.

He introduces the new topic

Step 3:

The class teacher allows the pupils to give their own examples and he corrects them when the needs arise

Conclusion

The class teacher wraps up or conclude the lesson by giving out short note to summarize the topic that he or she has just taught.

The class teacher also goes round to make sure that the notes are well copied or well written by the pupils.

He or she does the necessary corrections when and where  the needs arise.

Evaluation .

  • Say the essence of water to life
  • Explain the concept of water cycle
  • Explain how rain is formed
  • Make a chart of water cycle
  • Describe the relationship between the formation of rain and water cycle

Assignment

Prepare for the next lesson by reading about meaning and types of rocks
