What are domestic animals   ?

Domestic animals are tamed animals that live with us at home .They are domesticated and not wide . Some of these animals  are kept at home as pets while some are kept purposely for sales or consumption . Pets are animals that are kept for fun , pleasure ,friendship , companion or guide . Farm animals are animals that are reared for agricultural purposes or financial gains .

 

Examples of commonly found domestic animals are 

• dogs
• cats
• parrots
• goats
• hen
• cows
• ram
• pigs

Habitats  of Some  Domestic Animals

Habitat refers to the dwelling place of living organisms. It is their natural place of abode. Some domestic animals like sheep , goats , cow are terrestrial animals because they live on land . Most birds live in trees while fishes live in water .

 

 

 

 The process of Reproduction in Some Domestic Animals .

Reproduction is the one of the characteristics of living things that enable them to reproduce, replace or procreate similar young  ones or offspring that look like or resemble the original old parents. It is the process of breeding, increasing and maintaining the population of domestic animals on the farm .

 

 

Gestation periods of some domestic animals

Gestation periods simply refers to the periods of pregnancy in domestic animals that are mammals . Poultry birds like hen , ducks , gooses or turkey do not have gestation periods because they lay eggs and they sit on their eggs for some days before fertilization occurs and the birds turn to chicks .

Uses of farm Animals

Goat provides meats hides and skin.

Turkey provides meat, eggs and feathers

Rabbit provides meat

Cow provides beef meat, milk, hides and skin.

Horse is used for work.

Donkey is used to carry load.

Camel is used to carry load

Cattle is used to work

Chicken provides meats, eggs and feathers.

Pig provides pork meat.

Duck provides eggs, meat and feathers

Sheep provides meat and wool.

 

BENEFITS OF DOMESTIC ANIMALS

1. We make money when by selling them to people.
2. They are used as securities (dog)
3. They are source of food to human.
4. Rearing of domestic animals provides employment opportunities

The class teacher wraps up or conclude the lesson by giving out short note to summarize the topic that he or she has just taught.

The class teacher also goes round to make sure that the notes are well copied or well written by the pupils.

He or she does the necessary corrections when and where  the needs arise.
