Previous Knowledge :

The pupils have previous knowledge of change in living things

 

 

Behavioural Objectives :  At the end of the lesson, the pupils should be able to

  • mention some changes in rust iron
  • observe how non living things change from one form to another

 

 

Content :

 

CHANGES IN NON – LIVING THINGS

As living things experience changes also changes occurs in non-living things. Changes in non-living things can be permanent or temporary changes.

Examples of changes in non-living things

  1. Using clay to form a sculpture (Moulding).
  2. Iron/metal start getting rust due to lack of maintenance.
  3. Melting of candle wax.
  4. Burning of wood to ashes.
  5. old wood materials may become dusty
  6. iron may become so loose or sandy when it is very old
  7. old newspaper may become worn out
  8. at times old building may collapse

 

Presentation

The topic is presented step by step

The class teacher revises the previous topics

 

Step 2.

He introduces the new topic

 

Step 3:

The class teacher allows the pupils to give their own examples and he corrects them when the needs arise

Conclusion :

 

The class teacher wraps up or conclude the lesson by giving out short note to summarize the topic that he or she has just taught.

The class teacher also goes round to make sure that the notes are well copied or well written by the pupils.

He or she does the necessary corrections when and where  the needs arise.
