  • say the importance of simple exercises like running jumping or walking

 

 

Content :

Short distance race (Track event)

Track events are races we run on the field or track on our sports field. Examples of short distance races are the:

  1. 25-metre dash
  2. 50-metre dash
  3. 75-metre dash

Important skills to know in the short distance race are

the start, set, the race and

the finish.

 

The start: ‘On your marks’

At the command of the starter:

  1. Crouch or bend behind the starting line.
  2. Place one foot behind the
  3. Place the two hands behind the
  4. Put one knee
  5. Look ahead of

‘Set’ (Command of the starter)

When the starter commands, ‘Set’, i.e. be ready:

  1. Raise up your hip and your
  2. Look straight or ahead.

 

High jump (Field event)

The high jump is an event that involves jumping over a raised bar

The skills involved in the high jump are:

  1. The run-up
  2. The take-off
  3. The flight – bar clearance
  4. The landing

 

Presentation

The topic is presented step by step

 

Step 1:

The class teacher revises the previous topics

 

Step 2.

He introduces the new topic

 

Step 3:

The class teacher allows the pupils to give their own examples and he corrects them when the needs arise

 

Evaluation :

Engage the pupils in 75 metre dash

 

Conclusion :

 

The class teacher wraps up or conclude the lesson by giving out short note to summarize the topic that he or she has just taught.

The class teacher also goes round to make sure that the notes are well copied or well written. He or she does the necessary corrections when the need arises.
