Vegetables are crops that are planted in order to give vitamins and minerals to the body.Vegetables may be classified into leafy and fruity vegetables.
Types of vegetables
1.Leafy vegetables are the vegetables in which the leaves are eaten.e.g ewedu, ugwu.etc
2.fruity vegetables are the vegetables in which the fruits are eaten.e.g.garden egg.
Cultural Practices are those activities which are carried by farmers in order to raise their crops.
The cultural practices may be divided into three operations
1.Pre-planting operation
2.Planting operation
3.post-planting operation
i.Pre-planting operations are those activities carried out before the actual sowing of the vegetable seeds in the soil.e.g tilling of the soil, making ridges, harrowing , getting nylon or polythene bags.
ii. Planting operations are those activities which involves the actual sowing of the vegetable seeds in the soil.e.g broadcasting, drilling,etc.
Post-planting operations are those activities carried out after planting of seeds.Examples include fertilizer application, harvesting, weeding and manure application.
