Multiplication is often referred to as related addition.

This is obtained when figures of the same values are added up repeatedly.

Length simply refers to how long an object is.

The longer side of a rectangle is referred to as the length while the shorter part of the rectangle is referred to as the breadth

Example 1.

The height of a toy block is 8 cm. What is

the total height of a stack of 6 such

blocks?

Solution:

8cm × 6 =48cm

 

Example 2:

The perimeter of the square below is 48

cm. Each side of the square is the same.

How long is each side?

cm

Solution:

48cm ÷4=12cm

  1. A 40 cm long rope is cut into 5 equal

pieces. Each piece is used to make a

square. What’s the side length of each

square?

 

  1. Hill A is 120 m tall. Hill B is twice the

height of hill A. If hill C is twice the

height of hill B, what’s the total height of

the three hills?

 

3.Multiply 456cm by 15

 

4.Divide 624cm by 4
